About The Event

The New Year has arrived and with it comes the annual pressures to lose the holiday pounds. We commit ourselves to the latest diets, renew our gym membership, but often find ourselves in disbelief when the weight comes back and a little more. Going beyond “calorie counts,” “dietary ratios,” and “good & bad” food groups we shift the conversation towards identifying the root causes for your unique weight challenges. Having discussed the limitations of the current diet paradigm, Mr. Wolkoff will delve into overlooked topics including: biochemical individuality, daily stressors, hormones, inflammation, and digestive wellness along with trends showing promise. Most important we acknowledge the realities of emotional eating and how to achieve a successful mindset in today’s challenging world.

Homemade and easy to prepare herbal teas relevant to our discussion will be available to sample.

Jay Wolkoff, MS, a certified state nutritionist specializing in integrative and functional medicine, will be leading this presentation. He graduated summa cum laude with a Masters of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, and holds a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics from the University of New Haven. Jay is currently enrolled in David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies where he is studying the effective applications of herbs from Eastern, Western, and Native American medical traditions. He is an organic gardener, passionate practitioner of regenerative agriculture, with a keen interest in yoga and mind-body therapies.
