Library Policies

The Prospect Public Library seeks to serve the community as a source of information, education, recreation, and enjoyment.  Our mission is to assist individuals and groups in their daily activities and development as a center for business, social, cultural and recreational development. To ensure that we maintain this dedication to service we have put several library policies into effect. Library policies are important to both staff and patrons alike.  By following the library policies, the library is able to maintain a standard for appropriate use of materials and behavior on library grounds.  We want to ensure our patrons get the best service when using our factility and its materias, as well as, ensure the safety of our patrons and their personal information.  Please take a look at our policies to find out more information and contact us with any questions.

Cell Phone Policy

Patrons are asked to silence their cell phones upon entering the Prospect Library.

Text messaging is permitted in the library.

If a patron finds it necessary to use a cell phone, it is expected that they take/make the call outside of the Library, in the entrance vestibule or in our Community Meeting Room, if it is not in use.

We understand that on rare occasions cell phone use may be necessary for technical support while at one of the library computers. Brief and quiet conversations are permitted at this time.

Patrons wishing to report inappropriate cell phone use may contact a Library staff member at our circulation desk. The Library reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the Library if he/she is using a cell phone in a manner which is disturbing to others in the Library.
